The ninth Summit Conference of the OIC in the six operative paragraph of its resolution No. 37/9-E (IS) took note of the recommendations of the first Expert Group Meeting on the Implications of Establishing an Islamic common market. This summit conference also in operative paragraph 5 of the said resolution referred to the setting up of another Expert Group meeting on ICM by Secretary General of OIC. In view of the foregoing, and bearing in mind the active role , which the government of the I.R. Iran has assumed in conducting studies & research to facilitate the establishment of an ICM, the I.R. IRAN offered to host this meeting. This offer was accepted and welcomed by COMCEC at its Eighteenth Session. The relevant decision of COMCEC (decision Number 76) reads as follows welcomes the offer of the Islamic Republic of Iran to host an expert group meeting on Islamic Common Market. This offer was also appreciated by the Twenty Ninth Session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers held in Khartoum, Republic of Sudan (25-27 June 2002).
